Course Description

Level 1 Physical Education

In Year 11, ākonga/ students participate in a wide variety of achievement standards that contribute towards the required 80 NCEA credits ākonga need to pass Level 1.

Level 1 Physical Education provides ākonga/ students with the opportunity to learn leadership skills and apply them in practical situations based in challenging outdoor environments where they also focus on safety management. Ākonga/ students will also develop their basic anatomy and biomechanics knowledge and apply it to a specific sport. Ākonga/ students also have the opportunity to demonstrate their self-management skills, and practical skills in a wide variety of activities outside the classroom. 

Ākonga/students will notice an increase in theory content (in-class time) from junior Physical Education.

Ākonga/students must have:

  • Good command of literacy for report writing.
  • Currently physically active and a willingness to get involved.
  • Positive attitude towards actively participating in ALL physical activities involved in the subject (i.e. Swimming and tramping).
  • 100% Henderson High School PE  gear.
