Level 1 English is designed to help Äkonga build confidence as readers, writers, and thinkers. You’ll explore a range of written and visual texts, engaging in tasks that encourage creative and critical thinking while helping you understand more about yourself and the world around you. Our courses aim to make learning relevant, challenging, inclusive, and fun.
In this course, you will:
Engage in a rich study of written and visual texts to strengthen your Year 11 English skills.
Develop your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across a variety of contexts.
Prepare for academic success at Level 2 by aiming for Merit and Excellence.
Build critical thinking skills and learn to apply them to unfamiliar texts and situations.

'Studied text' means film and/or novel.
This standard will be assessed in Term 2.
In Terms 1 and 2 students will work towards developing their skills for 1.3 and 1.4.
