Level 2 English Literature
Course Description
All English courses are designed to support our students as they develop their skills and knowledge. We believe that developing confidence in themselves and their use of language is essential for our students’ success. In our courses, students will engage in a range of tasks and texts that have been chosen to help them think creatively and critically. In doing so, we will help them understand more about themselves and their place in the world. We aim to make learning relevant, responsive, challenging, inclusive and fun.
The main focus in this course is on written texts and the extension of literacy skills through reading, writing, speaking and viewing in a range of contexts. As well as completing their internal assessments, students who take this course will be expected to sit two external assessments.
Students will:
Study and analyse film and written texts (short stories and novel) in preparation for a close viewing assessment and a literature essay in an external exam.
Learn to locate, select and integrate information from a range of sources for a research project.
Write in a range of styles, developing their essay writing skills and producing a portfolio of writing.
Have the opportunity to achieve 18+ credits in Level Two English and gain UE literacy.
